The specialty coffee scene continues to grow across Argentina, and La Plata hosted a new regional round of the Argentina AeroPress Championship. On Sunday, May 24, the city held its second official AeroPress regional, following its first edition in 2025. The event brought together 35 baristas and coffee lovers, all sharing the same goal: to brew the best cup possible and celebrate their passion for the method. With an increasingly active community, AeroPress Platense once again showed that these gatherings are about much more than competition. They are spaces to build connections, share techniques, exchange experiences, and continue strengthening the city’s specialty coffee culture. The regional was organized by Sebastián Biglieri, a La Plata-based barista and roaster with more than 10 years of experience, and welcomed over 60 attendees who came to support the competitors, cheer them on, and experience each round up close. The winner was Ulises Alvarez, a barista from La Plata, who took first place and will represent the city at the national final organized by En Taza, taking place in Córdoba on August 21 and 22 during En Taza 2026. La Plata is also getting ready for more coffee events, including the next regional Cup Tasters Championship, scheduled for Sunday, July 5. Each regional not only defines new finalists, but also supports the nationwide growth of specialty coffee in Argentina, creating community, opportunities, and spaces to learn, share, and celebrate. Congratulations, La Plata! See you at the En Taza national final.
